An eminent toy designer is the brain behind many sassy board games for kids. An industrial design post graduate for National Institute of Design (NID), she specializes in toys and other kids products and is sought after as a design consultant by companies in India, China, Italy, UK, USA and Germany: Paul is the first toy designer in the country to have her name imprinted on the games designed by her, which were launched at the Germany Toy fair’09 and was honored by the Chief Minister of Gujarat as the first Woman Designprenuer of India’s in 205. Let us here what Mr.X says, I graduated as an electrical engineer. After that I did post graduation from the National Institute of Designs (NID).

As a child I used to create my own toys and games. I always had an inclination towards creative things and I found it calling while perusing BE in Electrical Engineering I have always enjoyed creative fields and in 2002 when NID, Ahmedabad started a new discipline called Toy Design and Development I decided to pursue my post-graduation in it.

The biggest challenge was spreading awareness amongst parents / buyers about selecting the age appropriate toys for children. As a designer this is the first thing I keep in mind while designing toys. Also, it was very important to make manufacturers realize the importance of in depth research before or conceptualizing toys.

Toys play a vital role in the growth and development of children as well. Toys promote behavioral skills, improve learning skills and also help boost their creative and languages abilities. It also helps in the growth of their emotional and social well being.

In always toys make children more self reliant. Their self confidence self esteem integrity and imagination power can further be increased ad cultivated through the use of various different toys games and play activities. For adults the importance of participating in sports and games not only enhances the quality of life, but also improves the developmental and physical aspects of every participant. Exercises and activities help build teams, develop employee motivation improve communication and are fun – for corporate organizations and groups.

I have designed different flash cards, puzzles, (My first puzzles and Fairy tales puzzles) toys and many board games Nature Cycle, Water cycle and many more.

On should chose this field only of he / she is really interested and passionate about toys and games because it’s a challenging profession. The challenge is to age but not grow up

One can be self employed but there are various niches one can specialize in – for instance in educational field like play schools and nurseries working with interior designer to design kids rooms and schools on theme based toy is also another popular area. In the pharma industry toys are required in the form of pediatric products. For example, a special stethoscope stands with cue toys for pediatric doctors. Toys for pets are an emerging industry. One can be involved in making of soft fabric mask costumes for children’s concerts, parties and dramas. Toy designers can work with toy games manufacturers in the areas of mass manufactured toys, play equipment table top games, board games and digital games. They can become a toy design consultant. It’s a growing field!
