AD is currently in his fourth year of engineering. After 12th Science, I had options for choosing either medical or engineering. Since I had an inclination towards engineering, I kept biology as an optional subject. As a first choice I opted for computer engineering as computers was a booming field three years ago and continue to be.

One Ms S says she has just completed three years diploma in electronics and telecommunication which gave her complete exposure to both electronics and computers. Careers like CA, MBA to have opened new avenues and provides the needed skills to identify with new opportunities for success along with an exciting pay packet. Another student was interested in chartered accountancy since Std 10. She says CA seemed to the best option for me, so I selected commerce even during my junior college. CA has very good growth prospects. The course is difficult and the passing percentage is around 3% – 4% and as a result, CAs are in great demand. Generally a five year course one can even go in for further education to pursue CS.
The basic graduation courses are still favorites among students. Another girl MS has recently given her class 12th exams. She says, there are brilliant career options available today. From the traditional courses like medical and engineering, farfetched options such as career in recording, skydiving and sports coaching are gaining interest. She is planning to do a BA in Psychology as she wants to pursue B. Ed further and this seems to be the right path.
For those who are bored of having the regular theory classes short term courses will interest you. A career on photography for instance will surely enhance your creativity Web designing and graphics is another emerging career and is apt for those with creative flair. A web designer can further have a career in different fields such as advertising agencies publishing, audio visual media, design studios, marketing firms, exhibits and displays an educational institutes.
The fashion textile and the glamour industry offer both money and popularity. With a minimum qualification of 10+2, there are fashionable career options in designing, fashion merchandising accessory designing and even footwear and jewelry designing. Depending upon the nature of the job on can even start his own business.
However the most important step to define your career path is to understand your interest, skills, choices and assessing your strengths and weaknesses. Choosing the career wisely is a step towards nearing your goal of a successful life. So aim, correctly and make the right choice.
